Introduction

Of the administrative documents of the IHP held by the Archives, the “Founding to Pre-WWII” (“Yuan”) collection predominantly comprises documents of the early Accounting division from the founding of the IHP in 1928 to 1937. Collection contents include accounting ledger books (both total and daily expense records), receipts and invoices, correspondences, asset lists, official registers, etc., all of which contain the acquisition orders of specialized apparatuses and other equipment, expense reports of researchers while conducting fieldwork, records of academic funding from the China Foundation for the Promotion of Education and Culture, pay slips, sales and stock records of publications, and documents pertaining to construction projects. The collation and digitization of the “Founding to Pre-WWII” collection has been completed.
