The Archives owns a letter of correspondence from well-known writer Tsung-wen Shen (1902–1988) to Ho-tsung Wang (?–?), both of which were staff members of IHP General Affairs after Shen had introduced the latter in 1940. This letter was likely penned during the period when the IHP moved to Lizhuang, Sichuan, and Shen was a professor at National Southwestern Associated University in Kunming, Yunnan. Regarding its contents, Shen comments on the price of goods and bombings in Kunming as well as mentioning updates on how his family and friends were getting on in remarkable detail, showing the close relationship shared by the two. In addition, Shen encourages the both of them to take advantage of the “rich number of books at Academia Sinica” and to study with archaeologist Tso-pin Tung (1895–1963), so that they might work together in the future.
