Beginning in 1947, the IHP has held biweekly academic lectures, in which research staff takes turns presenting their recent research and offering feedback, a long-standing tradition at the IHP. The Archives is in possession of twenty lecture sign-in registers and proceedings, mostly penned by research staff, from 1959–1969, contents of which even include lecture outlines and drafts if provided by the speaker at the time. Many of the topics presented at these lectures were later revised and published as formal papers. By examining these proceedings, we may not only apprehend the theses of their topics, but also explore the academic processes behind idea creation, including defending one’s work.
