The Archives, IHP, has loaned materials from the collection of Dr. Shu-chi Chuang to the National Museum of Taiwan History for the exhibition “Transition: Taiwanese Women on the Move,” which highlights the agency of Taiwanese women in work, travel, migration, and overseas study. The loan includes six physical items and nineteen digitized images.
Dr. Chuang, who earned her PhD in medicine from Keio University in 1961, was the first officially registered female practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine in Taiwan. The exhibition features her handwritten copy of “Treatise on Febrile Illnesses,” certificates of her PhD degree and Chinese medicine license, monographs, related reports, and photographs. You are invited to visit the exhibition in person in Tainan.
